On August 19th, 2014, Bio-Gene Technology Ltd and Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine co-organized the bio-energetic metabolism technical seminar. Dr. Qingbo Liu, the product manager of Bio-Gene, made wonderful speech in the seminar which draw most audience attention. The purpose of the seminar is to introduce a novel technology which allows researchers to study cell metabolism easily in microplate readers. Cell metabolism is now a hot topic for drug screening scientists. BMG multi-mode microplate reader contains many kinds of functions designed for cell analysis in drug screening. One of functions is the atmosphere control unit (ACU), which can control accurate concentration of O2 and CO2 and realize prolonged cell research. The ACU has been widely used in cell proliferation, cytotoxicity and cell growth.
With the combination of BMG high performance microplate reader and Luxcel cell metabolism reagent kits, researchers can measure important metabolic parameters (OCR, ECAR, Intra Oxygen, ATP, etc.) under relevant physiological oxygen condition (hypoxic) in a standard SBS plate format with highly reproducible results. The combination of BMG and Luxcel has overcome the shortages of some metabolism research platform in the market, such as poor data reproducibility, irrelevant physiological oxygen tension, limited metabolic parameters and expensive capital instrument investments.
