The 2nd National Zebrafish PI Meeting in Wuhan
Bio-Gene Technology Ltd and Union Biometrica successfully finished the 2nd National Zebrafish PI Meeting in Wuhan during Oct. 10th and 13th, 2014. In the meeting, Bio-Gene mainly introduced products from Union Biometrica to the attendees, which include VAST BioimagerTM Platform and COPAS Worm/Embryo Sorter.
The VAST BioImager platform is designed for zebrafish researchers who need to do high-resolution imaging of large numbers of 2–7 day old sedated zebrafish larvae. The platform is based on technology from the Yanik Lab at MIT.VAST BioImagerTM will finish the steps of loading, positioning and rotating zebrafish larvae automatically before imaging, which avoids the time consuming and tedious steps of manual manipulation of each larva during a high volume screen. Meanwhile, VAST BioImagerTM is a modular and expandable platform. It can conduct higher resolution imaging including cellular resolution imaging tasks by being mounted on many models of upright compound microscopes or stereomicroscopes.
COPAS Worm/Embryo Sorter is currently the only automating high-throughput sorter for living organism in the market, which can sort biological particle ranging in size from 10 to 1500microns. It’s widely used in sorting model animals, seeds and pollen of model plants, large cells and cell clusters, beads and particles.
In the symposium, most of the zebrafish researchers showed interested in the VAST ImagerTM, they raise lots of questions and discussion to this new system. In general, the zebrafish researchers provide position feedback for this technology.
